[DELETED CONTENT FROM BANNED

 02:43 wfryer-1 : I have banned "ustreamer-6565" from this channel

02:43 wfryer-1 : sorry about that - I am glad at least some of his/her language was censored out

02:56 fsinfo : immaturity showing for  ustreamer 6565

02:56 fsinfo : what program is he showing?

 02:56 wfryer-1 : http://loudlit.org/

02:57 wfryer-1 : He is discussing using Moodle in a course

 02:57 fsinfo : thank you

 02:57 wfryer-1 : np

02:57 wfryer-1 : Scott Charlson works at the K-20 Center at OU

 02:57 wfryer-1 : (he is presenting)

02:58 fsinfo : is loud lit free but looking for donations?

 02:58 wfryer-1 : yes I think so - loudlit is free

 02:58 wfryer-1 : but donations are welcome

 02:58 wfryer-1 : http://voicethread.com

02:59 plvitf : I agree with the VoiceThread enthusiasm.

 02:59 plvitf : A great website...brilliant set up.

 02:59 wfryer-1 : I haven't heard of instant conference...

03:00 helenabaert : What is a great conference we can use with students that is free of cost? I used ivocalize yesterday, pretty cool but expensive.

03:01 wfryer-1 : a conferencing software program? for live web interaction?

 03:01 wfryer-1 : "moodle is a great aggregator"

03:01 helenabaert : yes, ivocalize also had the possibility to show ppts and have students write on them

03:01 wfryer-1 : I have not tried it but have been hearing more about http://www.oovoo.com/

03:02 fsinfo : was shown an oovoo demo last week at CR2.0 in Chicago - it costs for one user

 03:03 fsinfo : there's mogulus too

 03:03 helenabaert : mogulus?

03:03 fsinfo : its like a broadcasting station

03:03 fsinfo : Steve Dembo has shown it alot

 03:03 wfryer-1 : very awesome - I had not heard of Moodle Rooms http://moodlerooms.com

03:04 courosa : i saw "advocating for walled garden" in wes's tweet, and I'm wondering why ... hope he discusses it again, as I don't usually hear that opinion, mostly against the walled garden approach.

 03:04 fsinfo : http://www.mogulus.com/

03:04 wfryer-1 : Alex I will reflect your question - you are in New York, right?

03:05 fsinfo : My district likes walled garden for younger kids to teach them how to comment

03:05 courosa : it's alec ... not in new york, in Canada.

03:05 fsinfo : walled garden keeps them safe and they learn

03:05 wfryer-1 : He is responding to the walled garden now

 03:05 courosa : thanks wes!

03:05 wfryer-1 : ok sorry-- :-) thanks for the correction

03:05 fsinfo : Hi Alec - loved your qik with your family last week

 03:05 courosa : @fsinfo ... thanks

03:06 fsinfo : buy you jailbreaked your iphone right?

03:06 fsinfo : oops bad grammar jailbroke it

03:07 courosa : Thanks ... I understand that, but what I am doing is creating a combination, we have a walled garden approach for some private discussions, but then we create opportunities for public spaces. I don't think it should be restricted one way or another. A solely walled-garden approach, I would argue ...

 03:07 wfryer-1 : do you have a link to alex's qik?

03:07 courosa : ... is artificial, lacks authenticity, and does not reflect the way students will learn in the future. Combinations should be considered (IMHO).

 03:07 wfryer-1 : yes, I think a combined approach is good

03:08 fsinfo : what age are you talking about though? high school?

03:08 fsinfo : i work with 5-6 th grade and need to be careful - we do some projects on wikis, but have to be careful

03:08 courosa : @fsinfo I think the walls should be slowly thinned as students gain understanding of the online world, and gain attributes of digital citizenship and safety.

03:09 courosa : @Wes, I blogged about using Qik from my iPhone with a simple example - http://educationaltechnology.ca/couros/1089

 03:09 fsinfo : yes, agree

 03:09 wfryer-1 : @courosa great thanks alec

03:09 fsinfo : I do a lot with internet safety - I shared my resources with you awhile back

03:09 courosa : np @wes, thanks for sharing this.

03:10 courosa : @fsinfo ... I remember, and appreciate all of your work and insight!

03:10 fsinfo : doing the "lets fight together" lesson next week with 6th grade

03:10 fsinfo : what site is he talking about now?

 03:10 wfryer-1 : sitepal

 03:11 wfryer-1 : http://www.sitepal.com/

 03:11 fsinfo : like voki

03:11 fsinfo : voki is free though I think

 03:11 wfryer-1 : cook, I hadn't heard of voki

 03:11 wfryer-1 : http://www.voki.com/

 03:11 wfryer-1 : cool that is

 03:11 wfryer-1 : :-)

03:12 wfryer-1 : this is the video he is showing now

 03:12 wfryer-1 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-p2KqU7QD4

03:16 helenabaert : in moodle, do they include wikis and blogs in the basic package? And if so, is there one I could view as an example?

03:17 courosa : is the challenge available in text as well?

03:21 fsinfo : thanks wes for sharing - picked up a few new ideas as always always worth the time to pop into these impromptu ustreams

03:21 fsinfo : nice "seeeing" you alec -

 03:22 helenabaert : thanks!

 03:22 fsinfo : bye
